One of the most challenging parts of cutting out all Allium family foods has been seasoning. If you haven’T already figured it out, not many packaged seasonings are made without dried or powdered onion and garlic. It is in everything, every salt mix, every ethnic spice blend, every pickling spice, you name it, it has it in there. So one of our task as we eliminated these ingredients was to create our own spice mixes… may of which we have not yet perfected.
But one I’m really proud of is one that will probably make you laugh. Leave it to the vegetarian to come up with the yummiest Steak Spice Mix ever! Why would a vegetarian need steak spices??? You would be surprised how many mushroom based stews, gravies and sauces call for them.
So here it is! Hope you’ll try it and let me know what you think.
