{ This moment }

{ This moment } – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

 If you’re inspired to do the same, leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all to find and see. Inspired by SouleMama.

Quiet morning learning

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

    How awesome! Hey, when learning is FUN, it is easy (and fun) to do it! I like how diligently she’s matching colors before using them! I sense she’s going to be one of those conscientious students who always has her homework done – and on time! 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    Beautiful!! It’s such a blessing to see a child so eager to learn! So precious how she pops up to do a few pages while she waits for her pancakes too! ❤ It's such a natural flow-learning-when young and at home. We home-school too, and that eagerness is something I didn't personally have, being taught in public school. Did you all enjoy some warm weather this weekend? It was incredible here! Sun, warm breezes, bring on the spring!! 😀

      Thank you for your kind words… I actually don’t home school. She goes to preschool. I’m on maternity leave right now with my youngest and decided to take a short sabbatical after my year of maternity leave, but our daughter wanted to remain in preschool with her friends. We do a lot of part-time homeschooling when she is here though. Everything in our home, we try to gear towards learning.

      I have much respect for parents that do it, I wish I could. I honestly don’t think it’s in the cards for us though. So I do as much as I can when I can.

      YES! Our week-end was wonderful as well… I’m glad you had a good one too. 🙂

      I just wanted to add that I’m not against public school, people have to do what works best for their family by all means. I just appreciate that comfy, warm, nurturing atmosphere that encourages learning in the home,as shown by your daughter in the photo. I just love it. 🙂

        ok! Just saw your comment, so glad I didn’t give the wrong impression! 😀 That’s how we feel too, all of life for our children is an opportunity to learn, and learning is so fulfilling for them and fun. It’s truly amazing to watch them blossom.

        I didn’t take it personally at all… if anything, I’m flattered that my post and pictures make us seem like a homeschooling family because that means that we still inspire that calm and zen that I always seem to feel from all the homeschooling blogs I red. I think for us, as long as we participate in every aspect of their lives, then we are still teaching them. We just also appreciate the participation of others. She has a wonderful preschool that respects our values and lifestyle choices (vegetarianism, compassion and mindfulness.) in addition to supporting our effort to live in a fully bilingual household (English and French – The preschool has 3 days in french and 2 days in English per week). Our daughter is also a very VERY social creature… having one or two friends isn’t enough. She wants 10 at all times. LOL! Which is why she loves her week-ends at home, but by Sunday night, she is ready to go back to school.

    This is so familiar! My just-4 year old has recently gotten into doing cross word puzzles (“crossing words”), and we are often at the table sounding out words and coloring in the pictures. I wish I could include a picture in this comment! I have one almost identical to this!
