April 1st – Creative challenges for ALL!

I know, 2 posts back to back… but this was something entirely different that I didn’t want to get mixed up with my To-Do list so here we go.

A few days ago, I came across this post from One Perfect Day about how to find 10 minutes a day for yourself as a busy parent to achieve a happier you. Although I knew many of the short activities that she listed in her post, seeing them in black on white made me realize that more often than not, I don’t even allow myself the time to relax. I mean, don’t we all know about these little activities that will make us stop and take a moment for ourselves? But when life pulls you in every direction, it’s easy to put ourselves on the back burner.

So, when I came across these 2 little challenges for April (one for our family to do together and one for mama and papa), I enlisted my husband to jump in with me! Hope you’ll take the time to check them out and join us :

Of course, for the sketchbook challenge, we will invite our daughter to sit with us at night and try her hand at the writing prompts. I’m thinking some might be a bit too abstract for her, but it will be interesting to see what she comes up with!

The second one is of course a family one so this upcoming week-end will be planning time. We will keep you updated on our project as it comes to life!

Anybody out there feel like joining us? Please let us know!

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

  1. What lovely ideas Yanic. The sketchbook challenge looks very interesting. Great idea!

I get up early in the morning so that I can have some solitary time. It’s essential to my day.

    Wishing you a lovely day.

Me and my husband took the time before bed last night. Just quietly sitting in front of one and other at the silent kitchen table. It was very soothing.

I can’t imagine getting up earlier than I already do in the morning. I have VERY early-bird kids… My infant son is up between 4h30 and 5h30am every morning and my daughter no later than 6am. LOL! Night time is best for us since both are in bed by 7h30pm.

I do agree with you that I would not feel right if I didn’t find at least a few minutes for myself. Did it for a long time and didn’t like it.
Wishing you a peaceful day as well!

What a great idea! I love those sketchbook prompts! They certainly would be fun to do with the little ones too but I’m thinking Ellie might still be too young. Looking forward to seeing more of your creative endeavors!

It’s what we were thinking as well. I think the abstract nature of the prompts would be just too much for our daughter as well (3 1/2 yo), but we’ll still give it a shot this week-en early in the morning while her bro is sleeping and she’s well rested. She’s exhausted from preschool at night!

See, this week-end is Magazine Collage and Polka Dots… I think a 3 yo can get behind that!

I really like the idea of the sketchbook prompts, our Easter hols start at the end of the week, I think they might be perfect to do over the holidays. Thank you!

You are welcome! We had fun with “white on black” last night, digging through my daughter’s playroom late at night, trying to find black construction paper. LOL!

      Have fun!

The sketchbook prompts sound like a fun idea. An art teacher ex-colleague I knew had an entire sketchbook of clouds 🙂

I would love to hear from you so please, take a minute and say hello!
