Double Friday Posts – Couldn’t resist – I love Spring!

Just had to share my first dream day out this spring… I’ve been waiting so long for a day like today. I wasn’t going to waste a moment of it!

Planted speckled lettuce, heirloom curly kale, Silver beet Swiss chards, Early Wonder Top beets, Bloomsdale spinach, wild aragula and a mix of early heirloom radishes. We’ve decided to NOT till the soil this year after watching a permaculture conference. This patch is only partially tilled every year because half of it is our perennial ground cherry culture. So we figured, we’ll try it on the whole lot! We just added some compost on top of the planting area and I guess we’ll see what happens.

I also planted 4 kinds of heirloom variety snap and shell peas (Tom Thumb, Sugar Snap, Blue podded and Cascadia). And no, you are not going crazy. We had an old mattress in he garage so my hubby gutted it for us to use as a trellis. πŸ™‚

And while little man happily and peacefully slept away the warm afternoon…

Spring day 4

… Mama finally got an hour to sit on her patio and read, watching over him…

Have a GREAT week-end everyone!

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Oh yes we do! And I just realized coming in earlier that all my day lilies are pushing up! Everything is happening so much faster than usual. I think nature needs it as much as we do!

  2. Sweet picture! Brings back memories of my sleeping babes. Wonderful time! What book are you reading? Yesterday we borrowed a fresh stacks of books from the library. We love books!

  3. Good morning! So glad you could get out yesterday. We did, too. We walk in the neighborhood most days. Yesterday was the first time to wear shorts. We’ll need to get out today, too, as the next few inches should see a lot of rain.

How lovely! The mattress trellis is a brilliant idea.

Thank you! We had the old mattress in the garage. We figured HOW PERFECT! Our peas get so heavy every year that our string trellises always ends up bending down and such. I would love to see the peas try and bend this!

Wow. Busy, busy, busy! So excited to read about your gardening this year. I haven’t posted about mine yet because… well… I haven’t even started, lol.
    P.S. Loving the trellis πŸ˜›

Poor you, I wouldn’t have anything to talk about gardening wise if it wasn’t for the fact that my hubby dug out my gardens bed for me! I can’t wait to read about your gardening as well once you get it started! What do you grow?

Trellis was our little genius web find for this year! Looking forward to seeing it filled with peas!!!!

      Thank you for stopping by!

You are welcome! Love finding new blogs!
We are all about upcycling here.On our way to a pretty minimalist kind of life here. Finding new ways to use old stuff is like gold to us so we’ll try just about anything!

Thank you for stopping by as well. Hope to see you back soon!

  8. I did that stroller to nap to garden thing SO much when Aerilaya was little. It’s such a great way to get some exercise then get some gardening done! Everything is looking great, love the trellis, I look forward to seeing everything come alive in the next few weeks!

    • Yanic A. says:

Thank you! I’m hoping it does… I won’t lie, I’m worried. Worse case scenario, I succession sow in 2 weeks. So far, out of everything, we have ONE little arugula seedling. That is it! πŸ˜› Of course, never having warmer than a 13’C day and a 5’C night can’t be helping. LOL! Thanks for stopping by!

I would love to hear from you so please, take a minute and say hello!
