{ This moment }

{ This moment } – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words a few words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you’re inspired to do the same, leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all to find and see. Inspired by SouleMama.

** Breaking the rules this morning : We’ve gone TV free a few weeks ago. Mostly, the transition has gone great, but mornings are harder. So we’ve started new traditions. **

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

  1. Family art time, perfect way to fill the void it is leaving right now. And good for you. The TV is one thing I am so glad we decided not to introduce to our little man. We have one, hubby watches it, but it is hidden away and comes on only once the little man is sound asleep 🙂

Enjoy your weekend my friend. Hope it is filled with wonderful things.

    Happy Summer Solstice! xo

We will still stream a few shows via internet on rainy days or watch movies as a family, but it’s never totally on. It had been wonderful! 🙂 For me, it is hard to say “we’ll cut it all together” because she has access to it elsewhere (grand-parents, friends…). So I am trying to teach her TV within reason. 🙂

I’m off to my sister’s for 3 days, it should be wonderful! Happy summer solstice to you as well! xo

Wow, congrats on going tv free! I think it’s a one day goal for me, but at the moment I couldn’t imagine not having it there. It is a crutch though, so good for you for finding alternatives to better fill your time 🙂
My moment is a little extra special this week. My wonderful boyfriend proposed last night in our community garden plot. It was a simple and private proposal and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better place to start our lives together. http://naturallycaren.wordpress.com/2014/06/20/this-moment-10/

Congrats!!!!! How wonderful! Much happiness to you xox
We haven’t gone 100% TV free. But we use it for movies and a few educational shows for rainy days. But mostly yes, we are free of TV service. If we do watch stuff, it is streamed from the internet like documentaries, our permaculture class conferences or wildlife shows for my daughter! 🙂

I loved coloring with my kids!

We had a beautiful day to hike in Baxter State Park yesterday and met up with this bull moose.

I do too… Just makes me feel like a kid again. So many great resources for amazing artsy printables online now as well. Much easier than coloring books. 🙂

  7. I just love everything about this moment! 🙂

So, this week I found it hard to choose just one picture so I chose a total of four. Grace and Emma’s dance recital was last Saturday and these pictures of them during the awards portion were too sweet and made it impossible to choose just one!

I love the idea of a coloring tradition! Those pictures are lovely. Are they from a coloring book? We gave up TV about 5 years ago and don’t miss it at all. It does get easier and easier and pretty soon you wonder how you used to have time to watch shows with so many other interesting things to do. We read to each other every night. I read to Panda till he falls asleep and then Bear and I take turns reading to each other. Right now we are reading “We Bought a Zoo” great book.

That is wonderful. I’m not sure I would give it up 100%. Like I mentioned in another reply, we love watching documentaries and my husband and I have signed up for an online permaculture design class that has conferences. So we do still use the TV. But like you said, even now, I wonder how we spent so many hours on the tube. I love my quiet time in the evening. I used to say it helped me fall asleep, but I sleep better without it. 🙂

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience.

Good for you, and a lovely alternative there. TV has never been a big thing in the house, but as they’re getting older screen time in all it’s different forms is increasing maybe a bit too much. Happily so many alternatives are still much preferred, like being outside, but it’s tricky to get the right balance in the world we live in now. One minute I’m commenting that the world is an amazing place for allowing you accessible online learning and the next I’m worrying about my children using and becoming proficient with all this technology!

Haha! Fair enough, I would not have made the connection. LOL! I’m guilty of it too. I always say I’m fine without a celly, but the moment I have my husband’s on hand, I’ll make a call or two. 🙂

But any time away from the plugged in things, the better our lives are. Again, funny coming from a mom that has a blog and a Facebook page. LOL!

Have a great week-end and thank you for stopping by!

Without the distractions, my daughter gets really inside her bubble and accomplishes amazing things. The TV takes all of that away so quickly. It’s why we have gone TV free.

I agree! She already had like 3 or 4 boxes of 12 to 24, but I just couldn’t help the neat little 150 caddy. So practical. If you can find it, get it. The sharpener actually works really well!
