Girls day out! – Musée des Beaux-Arts du Québec

For my first official day as a Stay-At-Home-Mom (that is right, as of today, I no longer work for the company I’ve spent the last half a decade with and will be staying home), I decided to have our Little Man babysat, kept my girl home from preschool and took her to the city for a trip to the Québec Fine Arts Museum.

We went by bus (one of her favorite things to do) and we spent a better part of the morning exploring the Inuit miniatures exhibit in the kids wing : We wore our pretty dresses and ate at the café, we giggled at dancing bears and walruses and slipped into reading nooks filled with fluffy icebergs and books of far away tales, we built inukshuks and drew soap stone figures… and we left and came home, happy, ready for a nap and a little wet from getting caught in the rain.

What a wonderful morning it was.

Wishing you all a wonderful week and to all my Canadian friends : Happy Canada day tomorrow!

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

It was quite lovely… Although I will be home, my daughter wants to stay in preschool. It’s all she’s ever known, she doesn’t want to leave her friends one year before school starts. So, I’ve decided to create these pockets of “us time”… I think it will be good for both of us!

Thank you for stopping by and have a good night xo

Sounds like a wonderful day! Enjoy your ‘stay-at-home’ choice: in many ways it’s more challenging than going to work every day!

Yes, but so rewarding! I’ve been dreaming of it since our daughter was born, but financially, it just wasn’t possible. Even now, it will be a challenge, but we are ready for it! 🙂

I congratulate you on making choices that put family and values above money. We feel very privileged that we don’t both have to work full time, so we can spend time with our children. At the moment my husband doesn’t work at all, and when we go back to the UK next year, he will return to work and I will look for part-time work, perhaps, but still have plenty of time with the children.

That is wonderful! With starting our homestead and being on a massive “debt-paying” regime, we are hoping that by the time the kids are both in school, I’ll be able to work part time and my hubby will be able to reorient. He’s always dreamed of working on bikes (mechanics, building) so we are hoping he can stop the office job and do what he wants while I work a few hours a week while the kids are in class. *fingers crossed*

What a wonderful way to spend your first day. That museum looks a great place to visit and I’m sure your little girl felt very special and came home with some lovely memories.

Yes she did… but the first thing she told her dad is that she wished he could have seen everything with her. She loves the idea of alone time, but she quickly misses the boys. 🙂

Career indeed… I keep thinking of it, it truly is the most thrilling of careers! teacher, care taker, nature guide, gardener, homesteader, herbalist, chef, personal organizer, seamstress… Really, so much to do!
      I’m just so excited…
