Every time we have family and friends come in from out of town (often out of the country) we always make it a point to take them to old Quebec. The historic part of the city is just one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen and I’m blessed enough to live a few miles away. The architecture, the vibrancy, the electric nature of summer in Quebec is just intoxicating. I wanted to share a few images with all of you…
Of course, no outing into Old Quebec on a hot summer day is complete without a splash around the water park! So I guess it was a good thing we brought a change of clothes. 🙂

It is such a magical place… so out of sorts with most things in North America. Feels like a trip somewhere very far, even if I’m just a few minutes from home. Always feel on vacation there. 🙂

Oh, Quebec looks like a really beautiful city! I would love to visit it one day. And your kids are adorable. The child’s joy is all over their faces. I wish I could now walk into the fountain in the city square on this hot summer 🙂

Can you guys do that? They stop us from getting into fountains here. I think they are afraid of people damaging them. Quebec is definitely worth a visit. Be sure and look me up if you come one day! 🙂

I don’t know what would happen if a grown up person would try to enter the fountain, but high school kids on ending of every single school year are in, soaking wet, swimming around, splashing water everywhere. It is almost a tradition for them 🙂 Incredibly fun to watch, I imagine even more fun for them 🙂

I would love, love, love to go to Quebec! A friend mentioned spending Christmas there, which always appears to be quite picturesque. I have an enhanced license (I’m in Michigan), so I can go across the border without a passport. One of these days! Is it easy to get around if you don’t speak French? I want to learn, but haven’t gotten very far yet.

Absolutely… if you are out in the rural areas, you might get some places where people don’t speak at all, but in Quebec City, everyone speaks English at least enough to have a really funny conversation with you. 🙂
And yes! Quebec City in winter looks like a fairy tale!

I have fond memories of Quebec! In 8th grade my class spent a long weekend exploring the city. I haven’t thought about that trip in a long time…thanks for bringing back the memories.

Very cool! I get that a lot from people from the North eastern states or Ontario and the Maritimes. It has changed a lot though in the last 10 years, I think you would feel like it’s a whole new place!

I’m embarrassed to say that I have not visited Quebec yet. For shame! Next time I visit my best friend in Ottawa, I’ll make sure to check out Quebec City! It looks so beautiful.

So beautiful! When I was in high school I went to Quebec with the rest of the concert band for a competition! It was the first (and so far only) time I had been to Canada but I truly fell in love! To this day I often say to Dave “we should move to Canada. Or Europe!” I look forward to taking my girls to visit your beautiful city someday! xo
