Rainy summer day

How strange summer is here. Only a few days ago, we were sweating and sleeping without even so much as a sheet. And today, I was running from window to window, trying to keep the cold rain and fall like winds out of our home. 3 days ago, I was walking around the yard wearing nothing more than a tank top and shorts, barefoot in the scratchy dry grass. Today, I was donning wool socks, warm sneakers, knitted sweater and a scarf, picking our few vegetables for dinner : Our garden is frozen in time. I could swear I woke in late October this morning.  But I don’t mind. Nature needs the water and honestly, my body needs the rest.

So, today was all about :

— Warm bubble baths

— Quick runs through the garden in the rain to pick vegetables for dinner

— Warming up with soothing cups of tea

IMG_7783

— Giggling at the storms rolling by

IMG_7785

— Hearty and tummy warming soups, a rare treat in the middle of summer

IMG_7790

— Snuggles and story time while listening to the wind and trains whistling in the distance

IMG_7792

— Lazy last bottles before saying goodnight

Stay warm everyone… Good night!

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

We are having cool weather in NY which is so unusual. I am enjoying the breeze coming into our windows as I sit here typing this. Feels heavenly. I would love this weather year round.

    Love your pictures. So sweet!

I’m a fall girl as well when it comes to my own personal comfort and our times of leisure… But I’m also an avid gardener so I know this weather year round would not grow many crops. LOL! But I’ll take it when I get them… As long as they don’t last too long or dip down too low!

Good night… Thank you for stopping by!

This summer has been a little up and down with the temperature, hasn’t it? We enjoyed the same fallish weather as you yesterday and as I sit here this morning, I kinda wish the fire was on 🙂 It is a little chilly. By Thursday we are expected to be back to summer. The little break is nice, but I want more summer.

Same here! It took everything in me not to heat the house yesterday… Already today, the temps should come back up. But hey! With how much rain we got (almost 40mm here!), won’t have to water for quite a few days! 🙂

Wishing you sunnier days to come. xo

There weather is very strange here too, but we are still along way from wool socks. We went from a heat index yesterday of 115 degrees, to a storm that included hail , to 88 degrees.
I am so ready for winter!

No, I’m not ready for winter yet. LOL! Winter was LOOOOONG enough this year. But I always do look forward to fall.

Makes me want fall weather! We are in the 90’s! It will come soon enough and I will wish it were 90, so I will take what I can get. I love your pictures of the peaceful day you had. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome… It was such a lovely day. Unless it’s gonna rain for like 10 days straight, I always welcome a rainy day. There is always something I want to do inside in summer, but I feel guilty staying in on a sunny day! 🙂

it’s been such a mild summer here, too, in the Carolinas. Makes me wonder if we’re in for a sweltering fall! Your pictures were just what I needed for a smile after a tough day.

You know I woke to the same thing late last week. It was 70 degrees outside. It felt chilly and I went back into have a cup of tea. For us it felt like fall. So if you are feeling it and I am feeling it then the season is starting to change. 🙂

Ouch… Maybe so! I was walking with my sun this morning and even though it was bright and sunny, there was a wind chill factor : In JULY!!! That just shouldn’t be. Here is to hoping for a warm august month or else I’m afraid the end of gardening season will be here before we know it.

      Stay warm!

Hoping it warms up again to give you some more Summer, but variety is always good, makes us appreciate both sides and your day looked like a lovely appreciation of the change in temperature.

It was… I always call it a body break. There is a part of me that feels guilty staying indoor when it’s beautiful outside. It’s cold for so long in the year here that I can’t let myself waste a minute of sun and warm when it’s here. But I get tired, achy, I get lazy even, and a rainy day is like God telling me it’s okay. 🙂 It’s nice and warm now. Back to the happy summer grind!
