Short and not so sweet

IMG_8765

I’m sure many of you have noticed that my posts have been shorter and farther between the last few weeks. Ever since I came back from my August Break, I’ve been averaging 2 or 3 posts a week instead of my usual rhythm.

Let me assure you it has nothing to do with me loosing interest or not having much to say. If anything, topics abound and willingness is plentiful… the problem is my elbow. Haven’t really shared yet, but I’ve been suffering from chronic tendinitis (tennis elbow (epicondylitis) to be exact… which is such a ridiculous name since I really don’t play tennis at all) in my right elbow for months now and although it was manageable with ice and topical analgesics for a long time, in the last month or so, it’s reached a point where I’ve needed physiotherapy treatments and long nights and week-ends of doing nothing while my super-hubby takes on the kids, the cooking , the cleaning all by his lonesome. I’m blessed with an amazing partner in life, that is for sure.

While I’ve been resting, there has been a lot of reading and a lot of just lying there with my arm wrapped in ice. There has been a very slow attempt at knitting a scarf, but I can only get a few rows knit before I have to stop. The little bit of strength I have left goes to taking care of the kiddos during the week days. We’ve been doing a lot of quiet play, crafts, building blocks, water play and reading. Things that don’t require much lifting. But it has also meant that we don’t go outside as much as I would want to. I was so thankful for the warm sunny evenings last week because it made up for the not so active days. But with the cold coming and evenings getting that much darker, walks and park play will get shorter as well. So I need to heal very soon. This just won’t do.

So if I have very picture heavy posts right now, I’m sorry… it’s just that for now, my pictures are my words. If I haven’t been commenting on your blog posts, I’m very sorry as well… it’s not that I haven’t been reading them, it’s just that typing is very painful and takes a lot out of me. But I have been reading, loving the peace and calm all your stories have provided me.

Wishing you all health and joy this week. Hoping you are all having a wonderful day! xo

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Sorry to hear about the epicondylitis, Yanic. It makes your (less frequent) posts all the more important. I hope you find an effective treatment soon!

Thank you… rest is the only real way, but taking care of a 78 cm (30 inch) tall, 12 kg (27 lbs) heavy 15 month old tornado is slowing down the process considerably. But what can you do, right?

Thank you for sticking with me. Wishing you a lovely day!

  2. Well that sucks 😦 Pain like that is never fun, and when it means you can’t do anything it is even worse. Hope it heals soon.

PS I have the same teapot 🙂

Feel better soon! It is awful to feel physically challenged and hamstrung. And I know the littles don’t always understand the limitations of us old folk. 😀

I know right? Every time my daughter bumps her little finger, she needs a hug, a kiss and a couple of band aids. LOL! But explain to her that mommy’s arm is hurt and she looks at you like you are crazy. ❤ Sweet hearts they are…

Thank you for the well wishes. xo

I hope you heal soon. I love following your blog. Pain is, well a pain. Tendonitis is not fun.

That is sweet to say. Thank you.

I’ve never really suffered tendinitis before. Mild case of carpal tunnel every once in a while, but that usually goes away easily. This is really no fun, I agree.

Hope you feel better soon! But don’t worry about us – we’ll still be here when you’re back to a pain-free (I hope) state. BTW, I loved your photos at the Zoo Sauvage de Saint Felicien. What a cool place – I’d love to go there someday.

Thank you, that is sweet to say. I’m hoping the healing will be sooner than later, but I know it might take a long while.

The Zoo is SO AMAZING. If you ever get a chance, I’m sure you won’t regret it!

  8. I wish you a quick recovery! Since I deal with some tennis elbow myself (and don’t play tennis, either), I have some sense of what you’re facing. But yours sounds quite severe. I hope it heals quickly.

Thank you. It had been stooping me from sewing, which drives me NUTS! Actually, what it has been stopping me from doing is cutting my pieces. I can’t press down on my rotary cutters or handle my scissors. I’m working on it healing now. I think I just have to not be such a hard head about it, take the few weeks off to be better healed later on instead of dragging it out. But I’m kind of a hard head… 😛

So sorry! It stinks when we want to do something and can’t. But there is always a lesson lurking about somewhere. Thinking of you and wishing a fast and relaxing recovery!

Thank you very much. I think the lesson is simply to slow down here. I’m not the best at taking cues from my body when it comes relaxing. Tend to push myself until my body decides to stop me. After all these years, you’d think I’d learn. 😛
