Time seems to have slowed down to a crawling pace and we are reveling in it. Although my poor husband has to make an appearance at work for a few days, we still enjoyed several days with him and will enjoy several days with him again as the New year approaches.
It was mostly a homemade Christmas and our efforts were very well received. This solidified our resolve to make 2015 a homemade/handmade gift only year for every occasion.
We were also able to spend some quality time with my parents, my sister, brother-in-law and niece that we so rarely get to see. Picking up my niece early in the morning for nature walks has been a wonderful treat. And getting to enjoy slow family dinners and fun outings have been a blessing. The weather so far had been so unseasonably hot (reaching 10’C / 50 ‘F) that we have lost much of our snow. But the spring-like heat on our faces was just so amazingly energizing.
There was a lot of peaceful and productive mommy and daddy time as well : Garden planning for next Spring, Checking seed inventories, preparing seed orders and talking about general projects to be accomplished before the growing season starts. There was wood carving for him, knitting for me. I even got to finish a project and start a new one for myself if you can believe that! Lots of baking, lots of cooking and just generally enjoying being at home together.
So as you can see, our holidays have turned out pretty much how we were hoping and for that I will be eternally grateful. There is no better sign from the Universe that this path we have chosen is the one that is best for us. My head is a buzz with intentions for the new year… I’ve never been more confident of myself heading into it.

Sounds just lovely. You guys have a lot more snow than we do…we have our fingers crossed for a dumping soon, we have new snowshoes waiting to be broken in 🙂

I can only imagine how unbearable it is to have such fun toys and not be able to use them. My husband is desperately waiting for enough snow to start cross-country skiing. And like you, we don’t ave much snow in the forecasts for the next few days. *fingers crossed indeed*

I love those peg people! I find myself thinking about the garden all the time. Our winters are so short that soon it will be time to plant again. By the first of march I can put stuff out there. Anyway, happy snail days! 🙂

There isn’t a waken moment that I don’t think of the gardens I think. LOL! But yes, early season for us means early days of May with season extenders! LOL! That is okay. I want tot start an indoor herb garden in January and we grow sprouts year round so it always feels a bit like summer here. 🙂 Have a great in-between as well dear KC. xo

It must feel so good to have people appreciate your handmade gifts. I think that is the best kind of gift. There are times when I start planning and making gifts months in advance to make sure it is done for the occasion. The planning is one of the toughest parts of the handmade lifestyle. How have you dealt with it in your handmade gifting?

Oh, this was our first year and the “mostly” part of my post was just that : dealing with getting everything done. I suffered an injury in the summer that slowed me down considerably. But as far as the planning goes (for this year), we have started thinking of things now honestly. We tend to make stuff in batches and spread them around. I rarely have one person in mind (besides my kids and our God Kids) when I make presents. I love making bundles of stuff. This year, our parents got soap, lip balm, knitted dishcloths, handmade ornaments… But come back to me with this question next year after a full year of not buying anything. My planning will have surely changed! 🙂

There is so much beauty in this post. Those peg people are darling and the acorn flag is just to sweet. I love the board and all those lights, the walks in the woods. Panda could never sit still long enough to be a human bird feeder (maybe when he is older). Just lovely. We also are resolving to do more handmade. It’s requested every year and I do the best I can, but sometimes I just fall short on time. 2015 we start early.

Oh, it took 4 years for my daughter to get the concept of “standing still”. But she still hasn’t grasped the “now you have to be quiet” par. LOL! Luckily enough, these birds are very used to people so are very forgiving.
Good luck with all your homemade/handmade goodness BTW, your dishcloth pattern made my mother-in-law very happy. She is the one that received the ones I made. Such a fun pattern, I really mean to make many more.

I love your peg people and the wee house they are gorgeous. I managed to make all the birthday presents I gifted this year but not quite all the christmas presents but at least one for everyone! I found it was taking up too much of the year trying to make them all.

I totally understand… that is why we are starting right now for next year. LOL! I did almost all birthday gifts last year as well. But 2015, we are really doing it! The only thing that will be “bought” is a frame that we purchased last year that we will use as a gift. It will be a challenge for sure, but we will make it happen. 🙂
