1/52 – Her & Him

A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015.

Little Miss : It’s been such a long holiday for you… Having to share your mommy and daddy time with your little brother, missing your friends from preschool, watching family and friends from far away come and go while you stayed put. You have an amazing year ahead of you, so many changes : starting kindergarten, having mama at home everyday, your first garden to tend. I look forward to sharing all of these moments with you. I am so lucky to be your mom.

Little Man : Your eyes have always drawn me in. So eager and full of questions and feelings… but no words yet. So busy discovering, exploring, finding out how things work. No time for words, they can come later. This year will be a big one for you, growing from a baby to a smart, agile, independent little man of a toddler. How lucky I feel to be with you every step of the way.

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Thank you… she will be such a challenge… she’s at the awkward age of forced smiles and wanting to pose all the time. But it will force me to take the time and write them little notes. To be mindful of those moments and record them. It will be a great adventure for sure!

I felt a little sad that I wasn’t going to be able to share your ‘This Moments’ any more, but this is a great project instead!

Thank you Sophie… I think it is the “letter to my children’ part that really pushed me. I wanted something that was more a journal, less random for me. Some put them together as a book at the end of the year, I thought that was such a lovely idea! 🙂 I’ll still be checking out all your moments. Thank you for taking the time and sneaking peeks of my babies growing up ❤

I find myself taking many pictures, but these feel so intentional… the idea of printing them out is a great motivator as well. I hope you enjoy the experience. Thank you for stopping by!

You’ll never regret this project! The images and words you capture will thrill you as your kids grow–and they will cherish them, too, once they’re old enough to understand!

Thank you… I have this beautiful thought in my head of sitting down next New Year Day and reading the “story” of their year to them. I’m very excited to start this project. Thank you for taking the time and stopping by.

Lovely photos to start off your project, both have such gorgeous eyes. And maybe you see more similarities than me. but it struck me for the first time with these 2 photos, one after the other, how different and individual your two are.

Thank you Sally… and yes, they are absolutely different. My daughter is a mini-me, with her daddy’s hazel eyes. My son is a mini-daddy, with mama’s pale blue eyes. Isn’t that strange? They are different in every way, a wonderful full package!
