One year ago today…

IMG_9995

… I was a mom on maternity leave with a 5 month old son and a 3 1/2 year old daughter.

… I was struggling to find who I was and where my life could lead me.

… I was sick at the idea of going back to work at a job I disliked.

… I was panicked at how quickly time was slipping through my fingers and how little of it I was able to hold onto and enjoy.

… I was only a casual gardener.

… I was a consumer of things I didn’t really need.

… I was going through the motions, knowing that this was not what life should be.

… I was sitting down to write my very first blog post!

And most of all :

I DID NOT KNOW THE AMAZING JOY THAT MEETING ALL OF YOU WOULD BRING ME! ❤

Your presence and encouragement, laughter and tears, advice and heart warming stories have made this space of mine such a treasured place of connection and friendship. I have felt more complete and sure in my chosen path in the last year than I ever have before and for that. I say thank you! This road is so much nicer shared with like-minded people and you all have become the community I’ve been searching for.

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

What an incredible journey! I’ve almost been at my blog for six months and it’s so hard to explain the impact it has had on my happiness. I’m so happy to find like minded women who say their stories and of course look forward to reading much more from you!

Oh yes indeed… taking the plunge took me months. I had no confidence in my writing. The mere idea of a blog was so ridiculous, what could “I” have to contribute. It has become so much more though. It,s a place for me to keep a record of our lives. It’s a wonderful place to gather my thoughts and connect with others. I’m so grateful I started. Thank you for taking the time to go back. I even had to re-read it yesterday. LOL!

  5. Happy blogger birthday! And congratulations on all that you have accomplished over the past year. I’m sure it could be a much longer list than this. Here’s to another year! Cheers!

Oh yes, the list is endless… but these were the really big ones : Starting our homestead, becoming a stay at home mom, choosing voluntary simplicity as a life had brought us more joy than I could ever have imagined. Thank you for walking this road with me. xo

You’ve summed up beautifully one of the best surprises about blogging! I never expected to make such connections with people either, when I started to post, and now I don’t know what I would do without it!

It’s always wonderful to meet new people and sad when they disappear and you never know why. Don’t disappear. I’m still new to your blog and slow to catch up on posts, but I love reading about your beautiful family’s journey. Shine on.
