20/52 – Her & Him

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015.

Little Man : You have never been happier. Outside is where you were meant to be. You climb on the window sills at 6 h 30 am every morning, begging us to leave the house and you cry when it’s time to come in, even if you are falling asleep where you stand. You are a born nature lover, everything about it excites you. But water is your favorite thing. Every reason, every opportunity, you will jump with both feet and just be happy. Can’t wait to find a real beach for you this summer my love. It will be a beautiful sight to see. ❤

Little Miss : We had a special Sunday morning this week. Your little brother spent a part of the day with grandma and grandpa and we left for old Quebec, just the 3 of us. Ferry rides, long civilized walks, fancy dresses, hot chocolate and fresh baked goods, all decided by you. The last few months have been so hard for you and they are hard still. It’s been difficult to understand all that is happening here, you worry, you act out, we’ve had many less-than-stellar days, but we will find our way and walk this road together. The closer we get to answers, the happier you will feel I’m sure. Very lucky for us all there are French pastries to soften the hardest blows. ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Oh I love the pictures but it’s the stories behind both that blow me away this week – how wonderful to always be outside, and I think your special day with your daughter is such a lovely way to really cherish her x

Thank you for your caring words. It’s always a balancing act isn’t it? One is in bliss, the other one less so. But we get those perfect moments and they are glorious. And that is all that matters. xo

  3. Your little man seems to be enjoying the tub of water 🙂

So important for us to have “dates” with our kiddos. Even though my little man is an only child, we still do little dates once in a while. It’s fun, and it is such a special treat for us to go out to eat.

Sorry to hear your little miss is having some rough times. It is hard watching our little ones struggle with big emotions. All we can do is be there, support them, hold them, and listen when they are ready to share what is inside.

Hugs to all of you. xo

Oh, he did… he spent over 30 minutes in there, just splashing around. I think that is the first time I see him do one thing for that long.

It is hard… this age is so hard too : They have the words, but not the emotional maturity. So words go in, words come out, but nothing seems to make sense. Today was a pretty good day though, so I’m trying to concentrate on them… 🙂

Lovely moments for both of your children. I read that you took your daughter out of preschool a little early. Hopefully this extra time will give her the peace she needs before KG. Your boy seems to like his tub. Occationaly we will drop food coloring dyed ice cubes in Panda’s bath to keep him interested; just a thought 🙂 have a blessed week. Fingers crossed, today we go in for the ADOS test.

Yes, we had always planned on getting her out in June, but we opted for early. As much as being removed from the situation might be good at keeping her mind busy with other stuff, I think that being home will help get a handle on the situation and she won’t have this doubt and uncertainty hanging over her head once KG starts.

Haha… I think Little Man would try to eat them. hehe. But I might have to try that for sure. 🙂

I’ve been horrible at emailing the last few days, I’m so sorry… I’ll be thinking of you today! Please give me news. xo

  9. my son used to love being outside, in fact he would act his best outside at the sand box, for hours if I let him! My daughter had trouble with transitions and still does. I’d love to go to quebec one day, it’s on my to do vacation list.

What a lovely sounding day out, and that pastry looks seriously good! It’s such a difficult age to understand and cope with the new information you’ve had recently and everything that it’s obviously brought with it, I’m sure she’ll get there though. And yes, water! Best children’s activity ever!

Oh, you would have loved the pastry! It was insanely good. 🙂

It is true… they understand so many words at this age, but it doesn’t mean they can deal with the context and meanings… She is working hard though. I think she’s seeing some of the improvements, so it,s making her feel much better.

Yes, I just love that shot. I had tried taking sweet, posed pictures and she wouldn’t stop making faces. So I finally told her to make a real face. That is what I got! LOL!
