To my Little Man :

This morning, the world belonged to us. Little Miss spent a few hours with grandma and grandpa and you and I set off on an adventure. I’ve learned in the last few months that the best way to spend time together is to take a step back. Trying to bend you to my will only makes you break. Adapting myself to you makes you smile. Easy choice if you ask me.

Who says my way is the right way anyway?

We are learning to make the most of this life my love, I hope you’ll always be patient with me. Sometimes we get set in our ways. We are not proud of it, but it is the truth. But we’ll never stop trying our best for you, making you the happiest you can be is all we want. Life is too short to hold on to things that don’t matter. And as long as I’m here, I will make the best of it with you.

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Thank you Merri. But really, it is us that are blessed. In Tao (and in many faiths) it is believed that children choose their parents. Somehow, he felt we were the best parents for him and that makes us feel very special and lucky. 🙂 Gives me the confidence I need to be the best parent I can.

Love what you said. So often we forget that our ways may not be the best. Kids are the perfect ones to remind us of this. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome…. Really, I thank him everyday for reminding me to take each day and feel blessed for our time together. Both my children are so different, they’ve thought me so much in their own individual ways. We are so much more whole because of them.

  3. Special little guy enjoys special time with his special mom 🙂 As always, beautiful words and love just shining from them. Making compromises is a crucial part of every relationship, whether between partners or parents and children, always keeping in mind that happiness is the only true guide.

Very wise words Yanic and ones that will carry you far as your little man grows. I found it hard sometimes to step back and just watch as my babies grew, but I am also thankful I was there TO watch. Enjoy each and every moment.

They are fascinating for sure. I always feel like a fly on the wall with my son. He is very much his own person, doesn’t seem to need me most of the time. So different from his big sister. 🙂

How lovely to spend time alone with your little man. Our children choose us because they know we are the best ones to hold their hand on their journey. If we can step back, let them lead, and hold their hand along the way, it truly is one amazing ride to be on. Enjoy my friend. xo

It had been a while. I think he wasn’t quite sure what was going on at first. It quickly came back to him though. 🙂 Thank you… Stepping back is a little hard when you have so much information coming at you. Letting go of the “norm” will have been my biggest lesson here.

That is a lesson I have to learn every day. Letting go of my way whenever I can (in good conscience). Otherwise, it’s an uphill battle and I miss those moments of pure joy in my efforts to “bend” others. I love your sentiments.

Thank you for sharing… We feel so compelled to act a certain way, be a certain way all the time. They are just so free to be who they are. They can teach us so much.

Lovely words, it’s so easy to keep doing what we’ve always done, even if it wasn’t actually working or circumstances have changed. Adults are often all too quick to entrench themselves. And I think you’re mutually blessed.

Beautifully put. I get so frustrated when people ask what is “wrong” with Panda and it takes all my will not to retort, “what’s “wrong” is that you think there is a flaw and can’t accept him for who he is”.. The pictures made me smile. Panda does the same thing with our dining room chairs. Be well.

I’m yet to encounter people that just flat out ask me “what is wrong”… But they do make little moments like “my, he’s a handful!” or “should he be doing something like that?”. Ah well, to open your mind to the uniqueness of the worlds is to see it for all its beauty is what I like to say! 🙂 Our sons need to meet one day!
