Overdue and Turning 2!

Family, Faith, Food and WHAT???

That is right, over a year ago, when I created this blog, sharing my love of quilting and sewing was a part of my plan. But life gets in the way sometimes doesn’t it? Besides the occasional mug rug or a little paper piecing square here and there, I haven’t had the time. Or rather, I could have the time, but I’ve chosen a few other pursuits. It’s been a busy year, so much has happened, so much to take care of, but I’m back! Can’t promise I’ll be throwing together quilts every month like some of the amazing wonder-women I share this blogosphere with, but I’ve promised myself to try more, to carve out time. I miss it, I crave it… and what better occasion to jump back into it than my Little Man turning 2 today.

Here is his birthday present : a 24 by 32 inches overstuffed “crash-pillow” for my little monkey. He found it on the couch this morning when he woke up, carried it to the kitchen, laid it on the floor and collapsed in it. By the time I got my camera, he was already gone (I need a camera strapped to my forehead I swear) but he loved it. All morning long, he kept dragging it behind him to his special hiding spots and squeezing it. Made my heart sing.

We are having quiet celebrations all week-end long. I promise to catch a picture of him with it as I’m snapping away this week-end. It may be blurry though, my goodness, he just never stops! But I’ll try my best. ❤

Happy Birthday to my special Little Man. I couldn’t be happier that you chose me to be your mom. I love you more than you could ever know.

Have a lovely day every one.

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

  1. Happy birthday and best wishes to him. He’s had quite a year! (and so has his mama!) Here’s to a somewhat simpler 3rd year for the whole family.

Thank you Melanie. It might still be busy, but at least the uncertainty should go away. Seems like everything is more easy when you just know, you know? We are almost there. But I have a beautiful, unique, healthy baby boy and I see nothing but joy for him so really, that is all that matters!

Your first line made me smile! Glad you’re still hoping/trying to fit it in – though I think Summer is always the hardest time. Happy Birthday to your little man, hope you all have a very special weekend. And I love his present – those fabrics are just gorgeous and even more so together.

Thank you. I love charm squares because you can get so many incredible squares of fabric for such a low price. I had both the random “50 charms in blue” pack on Ebay a while back. PERFECT! I know many would not have done flowers for a boy, but I like to think that my Little Man will love them. And YES! I giggled too when I wrote it. For a while, I was knitting so much more than sewing I was thinking about changing the name of my blog to fibers instead of fabric. LOL!

  6. Tell him happy birthday from me (though, perhaps that might seem strange). Two years old is such a crazy time (what age isn’t?). I’m in the midst of it myself. He’s so lucky to have a mom that makes beautiful gifts for him. It will always mean more to him.

Thank you Carlin… I feel lucky that my kiddos enjoy my home made gifts so much. 🙂 And I don’t think it’s strange… So many people know him through my blog. Only makes sense that they would want to send wishes. xo

  13. So beautiful! And, by the way, I have said the exact same thing about having a camera strapped to my head. Happy birthday and birthing day!

Happy Birthday to your special little one! I love your gift to him. Perfect for a toddler! Also, I love your quilting. You have a gift mama. Wishing you time and energy to carve out a place for that in your life more regularly. PS – I am working on my very first patchwork. It’s nothing organized, just a mishmash of old fabrics that needed to be used up. But I love it. And I love quilting. And I’m planning another one or two already!)

Thank you very much, that is very sweet of you to say. Oh I do hope you’ll share your first quilt with us! I love the mismatched stuff. Do you know Sally from “Wonky Patchwork”? Look her up, she’s such an inspiration to me! She does amazing things with thrifted and recycled fabrics. And all of it is freestyle quilt art, just amazing!

2 is quite wonderful… I’m thinking it will be a huge year for him. So happy to be home with him to see it unfold. 🙂
And yes! So far, the only way I’ve been able to fit it in is to stay up late. But after a few days, I end up feeling so tired in the morning. It will be yet another balancing act for sure!
