34/52 – Her & Him (late post)

A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015.

Little Miss : Oh how you loved this week-end with our new friends. You were so free and comfortable. I barely saw you all week-end. You caught your first (and lots of seconds) toad, you swam in everything from a fountain to a lake to a mud pond, you played with chickens, you had your first vegan marshmallow on the fire, you played with your first sparkler. And now, you are counting the days ’til we are all together again. These deep connections, these friendships you build my love, based on mutual passions, values and beliefs will last for ages. I’m so happy you are learning this at such a young age.  ❤

Little Man : There are no words to describe how happy and free you felt these last few days. To be able to roam, wild and unchained. Sometimes, I’ll admit, I didn’t even know quite where you were, but there, I still felt like you were safe. I promise you my love, we were taking so many mental notes this week-end, we will make our home as much as a haven for you. I dream of letting you explore without fear of our busy street. But we have a plan and if you can be patient with us, next summer should be a very different experience.  ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

I love knowing that both of those photos were taken at our home 🙂 I am so happy they enjoyed their weekend here, it truly was a pleasure to see them enjoying our space, and playing with Reece.

I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t enjoy your space. 🙂 We already have plans to make a few adjustments to ours before the summer is over. It felt so wrong to have to monitor Little Man in our backyard this morning. I want him to always feel as free as he did at your place.

Thank you my dear… yes she is! Starting school in 5 days. Seems just yesterday, I was holding a little bundle in my arms… *sighs*

      • She is gorgeous! 🙂 I wonder what is that with parents having hard time with kiddos growing up. Feeling that things are moving too fast, our of our control? 🙂

I think so… but I also think that it is mostly because many see kids as something they can protect from all harm. The idea of them finally setting off into the “big world” is scary because now, it opens them to so many outside things. For me, I think it’s just because on like Little Man, she was in daycare most of her preschool years. I guess a part of me feels like I should have made it work before. Like I missed out a bit. But no regrets… She will be at school 6 hours a day, still plenty of time for me to get my stay-at-home mom goodies with her. 🙂

      • It’s a lesson learned for you. Who knows, maybe that was something you both needed at that time. But, never mind that, glorious fun can still happen 🙂

Magnifiques photos! C’est vrai que ta petite fille et ton petit garçon ont l’air très épanouis. How beautiful it is to meet a friend like that. I am glad for you all! Et bonne rentrée des classes pour little Miss. Plein d’aventures nouvelles pour elle!

They were just so very happy there, you could tell they needed adjusting when we came home. They also missed Kim’s son and all the farm critters. My son spent a better part of the first day home trying to lay lazy-boy style on the cats. Not the same results!
