36/52 – Her & Him (Labor Day Edition)

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015.

Little Man : You are so strong my darling, you want to be where the big people are. We went on a hike this week-end, it wasn’t an easy one : Several kilometers of hills, branches, tree roots and foot bridges. Not only did you conquer them all, but we took several “side trips” down to the river bed for you to walk barefoot on the stones and play in the water. Sometimes, we almost forget you’ve just turned 2 years old this passed July. But you remind us in your own way that although you choose to push yourself most days, sometimes, you just need to be our baby.  ❤

Little Miss : What a change in you this week my love, such joy. I know you have loved your time at home with us, but you are a social butterfly and now, you are thriving again. School seems to be everything you had hoped for. You have so many stories to tell us when you get home. But there is still a little part of you that aches for home I think. It is in the way you run home at night, in the way you told me you miss our flowers during the day. You are growing up now, realizing that sometimes, we have to make choices. But know that if ever you decide you miss our flowers too much, we will always be there to make things right and bring you home. But for now, enjoy your independence my sweet girl. ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

He was SO tired… But daddy got a rare gift. We don’t get extended snuggles often, I think dad was secretly loving it. 🙂 And yes, she is just thrilled and feeling very confident in herself right now. It’s wonderful to see.

Have a wonderful week my dear! xo

Aw, your little man looks so sweet. And goodness, how is it that your little miss looks like she has grown up so much since we saw her. Beautiful capture of her, definitely one for the wall 🙂 So happy to hear she is enjoying school.

Honestly Kim, I think she has… I’d be curious to measure her on the wall… seems like all the school clothes we both her just before leaving fit her better than they did. All that fresh air I bet! 🙂 And yes… that is the kind of moment you want to savor. He was just so darling to watch.

Magnifiques photos Yanic. The one of your Little Man is very touching. You are right, sometimes, we can forget (at least me!) how our children are still… well… children! And the picture of your Little Miss is gorgeous! She seems so happy and so proud. So nice to see such happiness!

Thank you Sally… He has been such a snuggle bug. He reaches out for us so much more now. He guides us towards what he wants, he comes to us for comfort. These were all things that weren’t really there just a few months ago. And yes, she is so happy. We just had our first Parent-teacher night and her teacher says she is completely at ONE with school life right now. So nice to hear.

So different and yet they share so many traits. Watching your children grow had made me all the more excited to start this next journey in our own family. Siblings, a life long dream of being a parent to siblings… And all the anxiety and joys that come with it 🙂 shine on.

It has been challenging at times I won’t lie, but those moments of connection and partnership, of unconditional love, are worth all the bad days. I just know Panda and Badger will be thick as thieves. xoxo
