37/52 – Her & Him

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015.

Little Man : Oh how you are your mother’s son! The moment the hoodies go on, you are happy.  Like me, you enjoy the cooler mornings and the crisper air. Although the leaves on the ground were last year’s, you had so much fun trudging through them. I know you don’t remember it, but falling leaves have always been one of your favorite things and the season is starting. Soon, you will have piles upon piles of colorful ones to jump in, play with, throw in the air, bury yourself with… what fun is to come. And to have you so mobile, agile and adventurous to boot. It’s going to be a great autumn! ❤

Little Miss : How quickly things come back to where they were. You used to do this a lot when you were in preschool : you would need quiet times to balance out the hustle and bustle of your weekly world. We were all outside around lunch time, playing in the yard. You chose to stay in, sitting at your desk by the window in the soft cool light. We could see you busy at work, calm, peaceful. It was beautiful to watch you.  ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Aww isn’t that sweet, we’ve found Kitty needs a bit of drawing or painting when she’s got home from school this week too, just to help her settle back into the family and probably make sense of the morning in her mind! And your wee man looks so cosy – may there be lots of leaves to play with soon!

Little Miss has mentioned how noisy she finds the school yard. It will take some getting used to that is for sure. We got our first real fall day today, the leaves are definitely starting to show their colors. Should be a beautiful next few weeks.

So much calm in the capture of your little miss. I love how intuitive our children are, knowing exactly what they need, and finding the time and space to fulfill that need.

We had our first taste of autumn this weekend, and the sweaters and long sleeves came out…it was lovely. There is something about exploring the natural world in autumn that always gets me excited.

We are back to summer tomorrow, but this little taste was just lovely, and reminds me yet again why I love the coming season so much.

Have a wonderful week my friend. xo

For us, it was today : Wind, rain, 15’C… For us too, back to mid-20s tomorrow, but for today, it truly felt like the season had changed. There is something about putting on warm socks that makes me happy, you know?

And yes, trust your kids to tell you what they need. She’s been enjoying her quiet time so much.

Have a wonderful week as well. xo

Lovely pictures again, they both look completely and utterly natural and in character if that makes sense.

Yes, it does… I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t try and “take” project pictures… I just snap away during the week and on Sunday, I go through the week’s pictures and choose the one that speaks the most. A real snap-shot into their world that week. makes the project so much more real to me. 🙂 Thank you for noticing.

  5. We love the cooler weather too! The days start and end cool but the middle lately, has been warmer than we’d like! We are so ready for autumn to get here in all her splendid glory!

Love these pictures of your sweet littles! They look like they’ve grown so much since I last peeked in! Life has been so wacky with all these renovations that I am so behind in so many things (especially my blog reading)! I feel bad that I have been so out of touch and I hope that now that things are coming to an end with these renovations that I’ll be able to get caught up and back to my usual routine/rhythm!

I hope your September is off to a great start and I look forward to getting caught up on all that I’ve missed! xo

Life does happen doesn’t it? I’ve been guilty of the same : I’ll got days without reading blogs and then I’Ll block off a few hours and ctach up. So people see 5-6 commnts of mine back to back spreding over 2 weeks. I want to be better about it and things should be settling in soon enough. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. They HAVE gotten so much bigger. I don’t know what happened, but it seems like the summer was very good to them. 🙂 Maybe it’s all the wonderful home cooked food? Who knows!

Thank you… I’ve always said it, their quiet mindful moments are my favorite. I love seeing them full of life and energy, but there is something so calming about watching fall into the “at-one-with-me” place. 🙂
