“Any regrets?”

That is the question my husband has asked me every November 25th since 2006. “And I’m gonna ask you every year forever because I know I can be a grump sometimes. I want to make sure I still make you happy.”

How can he make me anything BUT happy? 9 years ago, when marrying me, my husband moved to another country, leaving everything he knew behind. Although he spoke English and we could have lived anywhere in Canada, he insisted we stay in Quebec and learned French. Immigration took over 15 monthsย and he stuck with it. We survived, without a penny more than barely what we needed, and he never complained. He was my wall, my strength through all of our infertility issues until we were blessed with not one, but two little angels. He jumped into homesteading with me without even giving it a second thought, chose this path of simplicity without ever looking back. He took on the financial burden of our household to allow me to live my dream of being a stay-at-home mom and stop working at a job I hated. He is paying for me to study herbs and natural medicine…

He is my best friend, the most amazing husband and the most wonderful father…

And yes, he’s a grump sometimes…

But that is okay. ‘Cause I can always call him out on it, and we usually end up having a good laugh.

Happy anniversary my love. No regrets, not now, not ever. โค

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Thank you… Thank goodness my husband has really long arms. A selfie with a Canon Reflex camera is not easy. LOL! You should have seen all the misses : chins only, foreheads only… it was a mess. ๐Ÿ™‚

But I love the result! That is the biggest smile, Yanic. I am so happy that you feel this way about your husband and your marriage. I am sure you give him as much as he gives you, and that is what a real partnership is about: helping your partner to live out their dreams, and maybe making their dreams your own.

Thank you Sophie… I do hope so. He keeps telling me he’s a lucky man, I’m just happy he feels the same way.

LOL! The big smile was us trying to stop laughing after abou 12 failed attempts at a selfie and our kids looking at us like we were crazy. Pretty silly moment for sure.

      Thank you so much Shel!
He is actually from the states. Originally from PA. He became a permanent resident here at the very end of 2007 (as in, Dec 31st!) and became a Canadian citizen in late 2012.
