A peaceful Eve…

Normally at this time, we would be out… See, Christmas always starts the night before here. Traditionally, we would have dinner with my family. We would watch an old movie like “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “Meet me in St.Louis”, we would eat too much and we would get home late. The kids would be over tired and impossible to put to bed, we would still be wrapping presents at midnight and the morning would arrive and we would be beat.

Not this year.

We decided on a different plan this year. A plan where we would spend Christmas Eve alone, the 4 of us. An evening of candlelight and a fire in the yard. Of a walk through the lit up streets. watching the full moon rise and a simple warming dinner while listening to classic holiday music. I didn’t know if it would feel “christmasy” enough, but funny thing, it felt even more so. Why? Because of the peace that is in my soul right now. The holidays have always been such a source of stress for me. This year, I’m making myself a promise. So far, I have kept it.

A very VERY Merry Christmas to all of you my dear friends. Wishing you all peace of mind and soul, limitless love and joy and safe travels.

Good night.

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

This is also my definition of Christmas, and it is what we did this year… Good to know we are not the only one thinking that way…! And your Advent calendar is really really nice! Joyeux Noël à vous quatre 🙂

It really is, but I felt better prepapred for the next day. I was rested and walking into Christmas day with a sense of happiness, not stress. It is part of what I’ve promised myself : To learn to trust myself and say no when it doesn’t feel right.

I hope your Christmas was a wonderful one Kerry!

Sounds wonderful! I too want to simplify things even more than I already have. The season seems so busy when it really should be about calm.

100% agree… and especially with special little ones like ours. We have to make sure their world doesn’t become a mess, you know? We saw it right away here. Just 2 nights in bed passed 8h30pm and mine Little Man was completely finished the following days. We are still playing catch up.

I hope you are enjoying the holidays my dear. xox

Thank you Jenny… it was a present to us from my wonderful husband. So much love went into that. And every year, we have fun filling it with activities and surprises. Definitely a wonderful tradition.

It’s been hard to make these decisions because I know I’m letting people down. But at some point, I have to put my family first and we are just a low stress, low drama family. It comes down to long term happiness. You know?

I hope your Christmas was simply wonderful and wish you a very Happy New year!

Thank you. The holidays were a little up and down, but mostly, they were good. I fel very hermit like this year, wishing I could spend more time alone with my family, but seeing our extended family is always nice. And New Year’s spent at Kim’s lovely home was just a treat. What a way to ring in the New Year. 🙂 Hope your holidays were wonderful as well.
