A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2016.
Little Miss : Santa was very good to you this Christmas. You asked for only one thing and you got it : a REAL camera, like mom, to start taking your own pictures of nature. What an artful mind you have at such a young age. You have been running around the woods everyday, taking pictures. Some are landscapes, but mostly, you have been training your eye. You notice small mushrooms, the texture of different barks, squirrel nests all up in the trees or animal tracks in the snow. I’ve seen you freeze your fingers white to get the perfect shot and that just makes my entire heart and soul sing. Your passions, whatever they may be, will take you far my love. Watching you embrace and nurture those passions is a real privilege. ❤

Little Man : My snow baby. If you are outside, you are rolling in it, throwing it, kicking it, stomping it, laying down looking up at the sky in it and even sometimes eating it. 🙂 We went sledding this morning and you couldn’t get enough. You kept running up that very high hill, ready for more. The faster and the more bumps, the better… You are fearless my love, taking life as it comes and running with it, full speed ahead. You want to taste it all. We could all learn so much from you. ❤

One of my most favourite photos I have of my little man is him holding a camera snapping photos in the woods. I think he was three, maybe four. I still smile when I look at it. He loves his camera, and I know your little miss will enjoy it for years to come.
Your little man seems to be enjoying the snow. So much fun to be had in the snow.
Have a lovely start to your week. xo

It’s been wonderful to watch her such leasure in it. Watching our children’s passions unfold is truly a beautiful thing. And yes, snow is wonderful. I’m so happy to have kids that are so at one with the season. So many aren’t.
Have a wonderful week my friend. xox

I know… My favorite thing about Little Miss’ pictures is the angle. It’s been a while since I’ve looked at the world from 3 ft and a half tall. 🙂

Oh she’s going to have so much fun with a real camera – we gave Kitty one for her birthday (in pink naturally) and she’s been having so much fun capturing the world from her point of view!

Hers is Ruby Red… Had to! She had just watched the Wizard of Oz. 🙂 The girls will have to share pics. Maybe we could start a picture exchange?

What a perfect present for her, and I love your capture of her using it. Children bring a whole new attitude and perspective to photo taking. And I love how much your little man is enjoying the snow too! It made me think back to how hard he found it to put up with lots of warm layers again after being used to Summer conditions, it’s so lovely to see him soaking up Winter now! Our weather was taunting us last week, we had hopes of a little snow, plenty of places in the UK did get some briefly, but all we had was lots of icy hail 😦 And now we’re back to wind and rain again! Still hoping though…

Oh no… when I saw the snow on other UK blogs, I figured it was everywhere. I’m sorry. I know how much you were looking forward to it. I’m sending extra strong snowy vibes your way. Here, it is strange. We have about maybe 30-40 cm of snow on the ground. We had a pretty strong 2 day thaw last week. Lost half of wat we had. Last year, at this time of year, we had 4 feet last year. So it is white, but barely! I guess quick spring ahead right?
I love looking at the pictures she takes. Everything has a slight angle up. It’s nice and reminds me of what it was like to look at the world as a child. 🙂
