5/52 – Her & Him

A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2016.

Little Miss : It is officially winter Carnival here my sweet and this is the first year we feel you completely enthralled. There wasn’t a line up too long, a game too scary or a challenge too big for you. Even I got a bit discouraged at the end when you wanted to visit the ice castle and there was a 30 minute wait. But you patiently waited for our turn to come and how happy you were to see all the ice built furniture and decor. I remember just a few years ago, the mere thought of going outside in the cold was cause for meltdowns, but you are truly our little winter princess now. Oh what fun we had! ❤

Little Man : That face! I would eat it all up. We have such fun you and I don’t we? You are always so well-behaved when we are out and about. I know many see shopping and running errands with a toddler as a challenge, but you adore it. We’ve found a great balance between you getting to run and have fun and mom having to do be a bit more serious and we always end at your favorite café : The counters are loaded with organic gluten-free, dairy-free baked goods and you are in heaven. Our little special dates. I wouldn’t trade a minute of my time with you for my old life. How could I miss any of it with you to make me smile and laugh everyday? ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

We did have a great time! We will be going back on closing week-end. We just may have Little Man watched this time. He, on the other hand, did not love the crowds… And yes, our café dates are some of my favorite parts of the week. 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful week as well. xo

Thank you for your visit Tina, welcome to my little space. Yes! A wonderful project. Jodi (from Practicing Simplicity) started it a while back, but I only joined last year. I’m so happy that I did. I have been loving slowing down, taking the time to write these small letters to my children. It has been a wonderful experience.

Definitely ‘that face’ – aaah, such a cute photo! And wow to an ice castle, that sounds amazing. I’m not one for queues either but I think I could put up with it for that.

The ice castle was really stunning this year. Made most of it from clear ice blocks. You could see all the cracks and veins… Just gorgeous.
And yes!!!! Cute indeed. He has been so expressive the last few months, I’ve loved seeing him coming out of his shell.
