A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2016.
Little Man : We had a pretty strange week you and I : snow storms, rain storms, icy rain storms (lots of storms really)… It all led to cancelled therapy sessions, lots of time indoors and a bit of cabin fever. But we made the best of it. We discovered you really don’t like cloud dough this week, but my! Do you LOVE stickers! You couldn’t get enough. We covered pages after pages of colorful little shapes. You had so much fun. I love discovering the things that make you click, that excite you, that brings out your creative soul. I know we will have many more moments of discovery over the next few months. It’s always a fun ride with you my love. ❤
A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2016.
Little Miss : Such a quiet week for you. before and after school, lots of mellow crafts, lots of paging through books or playing with your fairies. You have been learning about so much in class, you get home happy and exhausted. We’ve been learning some life skills this week : sewing buttons, cutting your own food and practicing tying your shoe laces. You are just growing up so fast. I wish I could just freeze time some days. I love you so much. ❤

It is, I’ll admit… but funny enough, much of what mom’s miss when their kids grow older (the closeness, the long quiet hours of snuggles…) I’m getting more of now. When he was a baby, he didn’t like to be touched, held, it was before we knew about the autism. Now, as he grows older, we are creating such a wonderful bond with him. He asks for help now, he seeks our attention and praise, he loves to rough house and snuggle… All thee things I had as a baby with my daughter but were lacking with my son, I’m being blessed with now. So do I miss the little chubby baby days, absolutely, but my connection is greater with him now. And for that, I’m grateful for the present and what the future holds. 🙂

It was a mellow happy kind of week, although very filled with “unexpecteds”. Here is to hoping this week is a bit smoother. *fingers crossed*

Yep, we are getting real winter weather for a few weeks ourselves. It feels strange. We will need to get used to it. It was -23’C with the wind yesterday. It is the coldest it has been all winter.

so sweet! i want to get some cabin fever. i feel we’ve had the opposite… only one full day at home together per week. it is certainly not enough. luckily, that is about to change and i am very ready for it. the way you speak to your children in these posts always tears me up a bit. so beautiful!

Awh, thank you Jenny… I’m hoping one day they will re-read these as little letters to them from me. I think this is the closest thing to successful journaling I’ve ever done. 🙂
Hope you get all that extra time soon. It’s so hard to come by in this busy life of ours.
