17/52 – Her & Him (Catch-up)

A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2016.

Little Miss : I love how simple your heart is sometimes. When we announced we would be spending the day in Montreal, I asked if there was anything special you wanted and you said “I want to go to Chinatown to see the fish!” And there we were, for over 45 minutes, just watching them swim and having them kiss our fingers. And you were happy… So easily happy my sweet girl. Finding such joy in the simplest of things will make you so content in life. I hope you never lose sight of that. ❤

Little Man : You are growing up so fast! And the more you grow, the more you want to do for yourself. It has been hard, harder than I like to admit, to let you do these things on your own : seems like you were my baby just a little while ago. But I do love seeing you reach those goals of yours. So never mind me okay? Keep growing and mom will catch-up!  ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

  1. So wonderful he’s becoming capable and independent! Certainly something to celebrate, yes? 🙂

  2. Marie says:

Growing is never easy. This is real work for them… and for us, isn’t it? But it is also beautiful. A real gift to witness it, I try to remind myself everyday 🙂

  3. Sally says:

Always a double edged sword watching them become more and more independent. If there was a way of knowing, really knowing, how hard parenting can be before getting pregnant it would be pretty daunting. But once you’re in it you just have to keep going and do your best and enjoy all those happy moments!

    • Yanic A. says:

I had my kiddos so late that I had enough people tell me how hard it was, I had no romantic thoughts about it, you know? I watched my sister and many friends go through all the shifts and transitions, the adjustments, the tiredness, the struggles to make it all work. By the time I had Little Miss (almost 36), I was ready… But the feelings that come with watching them move slowly away… that I had NO clue. 🙂

I would love to hear from you so please, take a minute and say hello!
