Little Man : Oh oh oh! Daddy gave you guys an old sink, old pots an pans, access to water, prep space and a bucket full of dirt and sand… HEAVEN! And with the rainy week we’ve been having, it was all mud kitchen all the time. What fun messy times are ahead!   ❤

Little Miss : There was no getting you to come inside from the pouring rain… Your lips were blue, your hands freezing, but you just wanted to play : Busy mixing your soups and potions, running all over the yard and gardens for ingredients. What a sight to see! I think there isn’t a day all week daddy didn’t come home to huge hugs for the great mud kitchen he made for you guys. WE are all so lucky to have him.  ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Kids know what is best for them. There are studies upon studies showing how important dirty messy play is for building a child’s immunity. It’s adults that teach them that clean is safer. I’m glad I grew up to be a BIG KID! 🙂

We will for sure and boy are they!!!! We want to start trolling the yard sales for fun pots, pans, tins and accessories. I want to put hooks up to have everything off the “work surface”… Hard to create in a messy kitchen. The mess should be the mud, not the dishes. LOL!!!

I love these so much. I love nearly as much the very idea of a mud kitchen. My kids are too old maybe, for them, but bet your bucket of mud I’ll remember this when I’m a grandpa.

Such perfect play for children, and I find it perfect for grown ups to be able to get on with gardening while they’re playing – with regular breaks to come and try their latest soup or pie of course! Do you find yourself called on to sample their cooking regularly?

Oh my goodness yes! And so many “ingredients” come from our garden as well. Little Miss is continuously asking me what flowers are edible in our yard to add to her creations. So much fun!
