12/52 – Her & Him

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015.

IMG_0602 (1024x683)Little Man : You made me so happy this week. You actually sat down for about 15 minutes and painted a picture. This is so big for you, my little tornado. Now did half the paint end up in your mouth, yes it did. But the other half went on the paper and for that I thank you. I know you were thinking about all the moving you could be doing through the whole project, but you kept at it. We will keep finding ways to satisfy your need for constant exploration and hopefully in return, you will keep giving mama these few minutes of quiet here and there. The balance will be struck my darling, just a bit more tweaking to do. ❤

A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015.

IMG_0625Little Miss : Your first dance recital, how excited you were : You wanted make up, you wanted your hair done, you wanted shiny lips… We did it all. (With all natural make-up of course.) You are such a lady. As much as you like to think yourself one of the “guys”, you are just a little princess. And you are our princess. Just please remember to be kind, to be generous, to be humble, to be compassionate and understanding. I love watching you figure out who you are, even if sometimes, it’s very hard. Mama and daddy will always try to guide you down the path that is right for you.  ❤

About Yanic A.

Hello to all of you and thank you for stopping by! My name is Yanic. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of 2 beautifully complex and unique children and a lover of all things inspiring. Having started a personal journey of self discovery when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago, I've since embraced a daily life of simpler pleasures and gratitude. As we get to know each other, you will know me as a quilter, a gardener, a Tao cultivator, a vegetarian foodie, a true believer in a healthy family life as being the secret to my happiness and hopefully as time goes on, a friend... I will try to share with you my days as they unfold, speaking of my happy successes without censoring my challenges, trying to make this blog a true portrait of the ever-changing path that I have chosen for myself. I'm hoping to find in these pages others to share with and learn from, bringing to light the absolute connection in all things and people, showing this world as being a true community.

Yes, he did… we shaved his head 2 weeks ago because he was having an awful bought of eczema du to the antibiotics he had to take for his pneumonia. We couldn’t get any oils or salves down to his scalp because of how long his hair was. He looks like a little man with his shaved head, a true mini-dad!

Her recital went well. It was very cute… she was just a bit attention hungry. LOL! Rushing to the front, looking for cameras. Such a little prima! 🙂

They have just gone through such a growth spurt the last few weeks. I truly feel I do not have babies anymore.
I can’t wait to have him outside with paints and him in nothing but a diaper this summer… The beautiful messes he will make! 🙂
And yes, she was so proud. She can’t wait for her next session of dancing already.

We are still trying to get her hair long enough for a bun. We can barely get it into a pony tail. LOL! My daughter has this thing with long hair : She wants to grow it out, but can’t stand it while it’s growing. I keep telling her that if she would just let me put it up, it wouldn’t be in her face all the time, but she insists on leaving it wild and unruly!

He was adorable… I couldn’t even get myself to stop him from eating it. Most of that painting is saliva.

I agree! This is why I love this project o much I think. Forces you to stop and pay attention. Some weeks I have so many moments I don’t know which ones to chose, other weeks, I’ve barely snapped a pic. It’s a wonderful exercise in mindfulness. Thank you for stopping by! xo

They are just beautiful. My boy got a haircut, too, although just a trim. It was a big milestone for him–he sat quietly, although haircuts have been a crying ordeal in the past. We haven’t cut his hair in about a year, I think, because of that. Besides, I don’t mind long hair on boys, but it was finally just too hard for him to have it in his face all the time.

Oh, I don’t mind long hair either. Especially since my kiddos have huge blond curls. I would love to see my little man with big locks. But this poor rash his got going on his scalp needs tending to. Maybe we’ll let the hair grow in the summer. 🙂

  9. When having such an active child as your Little Man, I can imagine the bliss when he sits down, ever for a minute 🙂 And your daughter is really a beautiful little princess. She is on a path of discovering who she really is and she has the best support for that – her loving parents! ❤

It truly is. With the weather being nicer, we’ve been able to go outside more which has done wonders for his mood and attention span. He’s also been sleeping a lot better. All wonderful gifts! Thank you for your kind words. More often than not, I feel like I’m not living up to all she needs, but I know in the end, she will be an amazing person. Hopefully, she’ll remember all of Mama’s good efforts, not just the meltdowns. :-p

      • Yes, nicer weather is having the positive affects on us all. Moving around more on fresh air is almost a guarantee for better sleep and more peace. I bet you are giving the best of yourself and I’m sure she knows and appreciates it! 😉
