My favorite season. All seasons have amazing qualities, but again, there is just something about fall. We decided to celebrate the turn of the season with a bit of fall inspired art tonight. The tarp came out and using leaves, pine cones, apples and acorns, we learned about fall colors and how to mix them with our paints. We learned about texture and patterns of nature. And we made something as a family to hang and share together. All the while, we ate roasted tomato pasta and roasted fall veggies. The evening grew dimmer, the windows were shut. Fall is truly upon us and I smile, snuggled in my sweater and my big warm socks.
And as promised, here is my darling Little Miss’ birthday bunting. I struggled with posting the picture because this will be the first time I share her name on my blog. It eventually had to happen. But I think it is time.

OH what a beautiful day you folks had there. I LOVE that tarp. I had one too of my dad’s.i carried everywhere too.alas it fell apart, but love how you use yours and really enjoyed the way you did that lovely art work..fall colors–made with fruit..learning so many things… and darling beautiful child in there with a lovely magical name as well. THANK YOU. I also love the way you feel about seasons. It makes fall easier to be here in NE Minnesota where we had hardly any summer at all this year. Our warm fall this week is ou rgift with emblazoned trees of oranges, pinks and golds with their birch white trunks reflected in the waters which are getting darker as the sun is dropping lower in the horizon. Warm snuggly socks and big sweaters….yes!!! That is what I am going to get some of…thank you and bless your family and your love of them!! Merri

Thank you for your kind words. We have been trying to lead a more natural life : Choosing experiences and moments over possessions and luxuries. The world is moving too fast for us. We are taking steps to slow it down and marking the seasons is a new tradition this year that we plan on pursuing.

It is just lovely isn’t it? Just wish it lasted longer. LOL! Colors are so fleeting here. One good rain storm and the trees are bare. You have to make the most of them while they are there. 🙂

Your roasted veggies look delicious. I just put a tray of sweet potato wedges in the oven to roast. (They will be gone before dinner…) I love all the colourful goodness and fall “props” in your life these days. Isn’t it awesome how much kids gravitate towards nature by instinct? Love love love.

It is! An it’s so easy to bring it into the home. There isn’t one day that goes by that my daughter doesn’t pick up a leaf, rock, branch or acorn to bring into the house. She calls them her “treasures”.
I bet those wedges were gone quick. Yum! We’ve had a few days of frost here so all the fall root veggies are so sweet now. Roasting them just makes it better!

Oh! I know what we’re having for supper tonight. I roasted a turkey two days ago. I’ll warm slices of turkey and roast some veggies. I have turnip, carrots, sweet potatoes and winter squash. Thank you for the great idea.

You are welcome… I love roasting just about any veggie, but there is something fall root veggies! Have you ever roasted beets with just a bit of olive oil, honey and salt? Insanely good!

There is something so amazing about the warmth of home. So often, we don’t consider our homes warm, they are plain HOT! LOL! Warm has a cozy comfortable intent in my mind. I’m such a nester. 🙂

Love your family art work, and your bunting is beautiful. It’s funny, we share so much that’s quite personal in these spaces and yet sharing names does feel a little different. I remember when I first started blogging I didn’t expect to share names at all, but it felt quite awkward very quickly not writing about them naturally by name, particularly with 4 of them, so I decided just to do it. I’m glad I did now, but it did take quite a while to feel comfortable about it. Since you’ve shared her name, could you possibly also share an explanation of how it’s pronounced?! It looks a beautiful name, but I’m not sure whether or not I’m saying it right in my head!

Nevaeh is Heaven spelled backwards. 🙂 We pronounce it “Na-vay”. Her entire name is Nevaeh Skye. Skye is of Gaelic decent and from what I’ve read, although the meaning is very much all over the place, one of the meanings is free-spirited. Another meaning that we’ve found was the the Isle of Skye in Scotland is also nicknamed the “Winged Isle” so people named Skye (male or female) were referred to as the winged ones. That spoke to us quite a bit because we tried for her for so long, she was our Angel of Heaven… Nevaeh Skye. 🙂
